I'm sure you wouldn't have needed to complete the game despite where it takes place. Remember that Nightfall takes place after factions, which seems to have a somewhat parallel timeline with Prophecies. if you didn't complete either of the first two campaigns, you could still complete nightfall; Shiro and the Lich would still be in the Realm of Torment as if you killed them because even if you didn't kill them in previous campaigns, other people did...over and over again.

So, no. I don't think you'll need to have completed any of hte games to be able to play the expansion, though I wouldn't mind seeing ascension a requirement tho (you need to ascend to get into UW, so why not?).

The lead time in Prophecies to get a character Ascended is huge when compared to Nightfall and Factions.

Part of this is because by the time you reach Lion's Arch you probably aren't even level 20 yet and you don't have ready access to max armor.

Concerning the prerequisite for the expansion content:

I am becoming convinced that your character will be required to have completed at least one campaign. This makes sense from a game design and story-line perspective as well the interpretation of what the website states.

well i think it is not needed because you wont need have all 3 campains
so i think you need to some kind of quest to move to new area

I do not think you will have to be ascended, or even level 20 to access the core of Eye of the North. Now, that's not to say that being level 20 wouldn't be prudent (the content wil be scaled to level 20), and that their might be special quests or places you only have access to once your Ascended (like FoW or UW), but I don't think you'll be locked out of the entire Campaign.

Case in point: Remember when Factions first was announced? People assumed you needed to be Ascended if you wanted to bring a Tyria character over to Cantha.

But, that wasn't the case. And I doubt there will be any hard requirements, except owning an existing Chapter, to access Eye of the North.

mikbal, we already know GW:EN requires at least one game to play, that's not what's in debate. Also, I really hope nobody is thinking you have to have beaten the Titan quests to get to GW:EN, because that would just be cruel. I just assumed "beating the game" just meant beating Hell's Precipice.
